Wiring a home for telephone service has become more complex over the years. As technology changes and more features are added to phones -- fax, Internet access -- the need is growing for more lines and added services.

And as new homes get larger more phone lines are also required for more rooms. It's not uncommon for many new homes to have four lines, especially in homes ranging between 3-5,000 square feet.
