Asphalt Siding
Q: I'm building a small camp in the woods. I am trying to find old-time asphalt siding like that used in the 40s and patterned like brick. Where can I find this material?
A: Thanks for your inquiry. If you are referring to rigid cement shingle siding, that is no longer manufactured in the U.S. because it contained asbestos. I don't know of anyone who manufactures a comparable product without asbestos, at least not in the U.S. (Surfing the web, I did see some references to it in Canada, but I don't know if it is legal to bring it into the States).
You should probably check around with some building suppliers to see what other kinds of products they offer that might work for you. Perhaps you can find something in a vinyl product.
If you would like to locate a service provider to install siding for you, visit Home Advisor, and select "Roofing, Siding & Gutters."
Good luck with your project!
