Living Under Construction
When undertaking a remodeling project or addition, there is an expected level of stress. However, while we expect it, dealing with a home under construction is much easier said than done. Think of the finished product and use it as motivation to keep your emotions from getting the best of you.
Build a relationship with the workers who will be spending time in your home. Start early, learn their names and establish mutual respect for each other. This will go a long way and the workers will appreciate your efforts, which will only benefit you and your home in the long run. Also write a list of basic rules of the house specifically for your service professionals.
While you don't want to get in the way of the workers, you also can't change your daily routine completely; after all, it is your home. Prepare children for this project and the possible disruptions it may cause. Consider options for keeping pets away from work areas also.
Feel free to speak up if you have concerns along the way. Remember that the inconveniences are only temporary and keep the goal of the project in mind.
