Ceiling Fan Repairs
Check the Warranty
Since many ceiling fan motors have long warranties, be sure to check the owner's manual before proceeding with repairs. Let the manufacturer deal with a faulty motor if it's still under warranty.

Typical Fan Problems
If the fan doesn't move when it's turned on, check to see if the switch is faulty or if the individual circuit has been switched off in the main panel box. If the light isn't working, make sure the bulb isn't burned out.
If the fan is noisy, it could a problem with loose fasteners in the motor or switch housings, a loose light fixture, damaged blade or dry bearings. If it wobbles or vibrates, it's generally because the blades are loose, bent, cracked or out of balance or the fan is improperly mounted. If the remote isn't functioning, check its batteries before calling a professional.
Fan Quality
Letting your service professional know what quality fan you have will help him better determine what it might cost to fix it; ie., the higher the quality level of the fan, the more time and effort it might take to fix it.
