When to Call a Handyman
In most states it is not necessary to use a licensed contractor if your project cost is under $300-$500 (depending on the state).
If you know a good handyman, you can use him or her for small projects such as, installing a ceiling fan, repairing door trim, installing a garbage disposal, etc.
You can sometimes save money on small jobs if you have two or more jobs that could be completed in the same trip. Discuss the possibilities with your repair person about how best to organize the things you'd like done.
