Sample Contracts
Q: I've read enough general suggestions about writing a good contract. Could you tell me where I can find samples of contracts and owner specifications for a two-storey room addition approximately 1,500 square feet including a new kitchen, master suite, living room, and garage.
A: Every state has different requirements so the details included in contracts could depend on where you live. Any contractor you are dealing with should have the appropriate contracts, or even when you are calling for estimates from contractors, you could ask where they get their contracts. You can often find blank contracts in specialized bookstores for builders and contractors.
However, much of it will still need to be filled in, describing the materials to be used (and I recommend brand names, model numbers and even colors when at all possible), and the scope of work to be done.
I have contacted a form company and asked if they could give me more information or provide individual contacts to consumers according to state. If I get any more information, I will be sure to send it on to you.
