Pine Flooring
Q: I recently saw a floor that had the appearance of a school house floor. I was told it was white pine. I loved the look of the wood. Would you recommend I install it in my Creole cottage?
A: Many flooring companies carry the floor you have described. My shop has a product made from distressed or recycled lumber.
Most of these floors are prefinished at the factory. They are assembled on a plywood type core to help control expansion and contraction.
All wood floors will scratch and dent, so don't expect it to be very durable. Old yellow pine will be harder than new fir or pine floors. The costs will equal or exceed traditional oak flooring.
Good luck and happy shopping!
