Outlet Doesn't Work After Basement Flooding
Q: I have a drainage problem in my basement. The sump pump does not turn on. We had heavy rainfall and the basement was covered with water. It seems the electric socket does not work because I plugged in other tools and they would not run either. All other sockets in our house are working. Do I need an electrician? Is there anything I can do to fix it myself? Is there a way to get power to this socket?
A: This sounds like an electrical problem if all the
other electrical outlets are working. Did you go to the electrical panel and see if the circuit to the sump pump has tripped? That may be all there is to it.
If that is not the case, I recommend you hire an electrician to come take a look and fix the problem so your sump pump can get rid of that water for you.
