Moving a Building
The first thing to think about before you decide to move your home is whether it's practical.
Almost any house can be moved, but there are many factors that will determine whether it's a feasible idea. Find out whether it's practical before going any further. Some cities, for instance, don't allow moved houses.
You must also have the correct permits in order to move a structure from one place to another and obtain permission to cross certain areas of private property. In general, building permits should be obtained by the homeower; movers will be responsible for moving permits. You'll be expected to provide foundation sketches, elevation and site plans for building inspectors. You might have to provide a contractor to oversee the entire project. Ask your mover about insurance for your move.
