Siding and Trim
Q: I am interested in putting siding around the trim and eaves of my house and would like information on what I should look for in getting quality siding.
A: Although I'm not quite sure what you mean by "siding around the trim and eves," I think you might be referring to vinyl wrapped trim. More and more homeowners are choosing, especially if they have stucco, vinyl or aluminum siding, because it saves so much maintenance.
You can find a discussion about that on http://www.HomeAdvisor.com/. Just go to the Home Page and click on "More" to get to the second page. Select "Roofing, Siding & Gutters," then "Siding", then "Trim Only/Install." You can read the Feature Article and then answer the questions to let us help you find up to three service professionals in your area who specialize in installing the kind of trim you choose.
The best way to learn about different products and brands is to have several Service Professionals come out and give you estimates, because they can look at your project and explain the reasons for their recommendations (i.e. the range of colors and styles, the manufacturer's warranties, etc.).
Have them put their estimates in writing, including the specific kind(s) of product they will use and a description of the work to be done. This will enable you to compare bids and choose both the product you want and the professional to install it.
