How Many Bricks to Use?
Q: I am interested in finding out if 10,000 bricks will be sufficient to cover the exterior of a home I am going to purchase. The house is 1,800 sq. ft. and the lot is 10,000. I need to know if this number of bricks will also be sufficient to cover a fence running around the front portion of the house. Please advise.
A: There are too many variables involved for me to be able to tell you how many bricks you will need to cover your home and fence. Try contacting a masonry supply company to inquire how much material they estimate you will need so they can ask you all the necessary questions to give you a better informed answer.
Or better yet, call some masonry contractors for bids to install the brick. Masons would be in the best position to determine how much material would be needed for your particular project. Also, discussing your project with several different masons, checking their schedules, their communication skills, how receptive they would be to you supplying your own bricks (I gather that's the reason for this question?), as well as, comparing the prices and scope of work outlined in their proposals. will help you determine who you would prefer to hire.
