Kitchen Cabinet Painting
Q: I have kitchen cabinets which were refaced several years ago. Is it now possible to repaint these cabinets and doors white? If so, what preparation work do I need to do, what kind of paint would you recommend, and would I be best brushing or spraying the paint on?
A: If they were refaced in wood, I don't know why you couldn't
paint them, though I'd certainly want a professional to look at them to be sure. Also, when painting kitchen cabinets it is very difficult to get good results. At least half of the professional painters I have ever known choose not to do it because it requires so much more time, patience and skill than most painting projects. I encourage you to read the Repainting Cabinets article on site before tackling such an ambitious project.
Visit Home Advisor and enter a service request to receive the names of several cabinet painting specialists. I recommend having one of them look at your refaced cabinets and tell you how they would paint them, even if you do end up deciding to do it yourself.
