There are many cabinet selections from which to choose. Among the best is solid hardwood. Another option is cabinets made from particleboard that has a wood veneer finish glued to it.
The particleboard and the glue may contain pollutants that when emitted can be an irritant to many people. If using cabinets with particleboard, they should be sealed with a water-based sealant.
People who are sensitive to outgassing may prefer the option of metal cabinetry, because of its inert qualities.
